Offshore wind turbines in the North Sea

Industry Expertise

Industries We Serve

Deep expertise in the most demanding offshore environments — from Phase 1 development through to construction and commissioning.

Our Industry Specialisations

Primary Focus

Phase 1 Offshore Renewable Development

Supporting Ireland's ambitious offshore wind targets — 5 GW by 2030, 20 GW by 2040, and 37 GW by 2050 (Government of Ireland, Future Framework for Offshore Renewable Energy, May 2024) — from the earliest stages. All five Phase One ORESS 1 projects have now submitted planning applications to An Bord Pleanála (Minister Darragh O'Brien, May 2025). We provide comprehensive QHSE consultancy for Phase 1 development projects, ensuring safety is embedded from concept through to consent and beyond.

  • Safety case development and review
  • Environmental impact assessment support
  • Stakeholder safety engagement
  • Consent condition compliance

Offshore Wind Enabling Works

The enabling works phase is critical to project success. EirGrid's Powering Up Offshore programme is actively progressing marine and coastal surveys to inform cable routing, landfall options, and grid connection infrastructure for the Tonn Nua 900 MW offshore wind farm — a joint venture between ESB and Ørsted (EirGrid, December 2025). We provide safety management for all enabling activities including site investigation, cable route surveys, geotechnical works, and onshore grid connection preparations.

  • Site investigation safety planning
  • Geotechnical survey oversight
  • Cable route assessment support
  • Onshore enabling works safety management

Marine and Nearshore Construction

Marine and nearshore construction activities present unique safety challenges, particularly where vessel operations intersect with crane operations and work at height during blade and turbine installation. The South Coast DMAP is projected to generate 49,000 FTE years of employment and €4.4 billion in GVA for the Irish economy (BVG Associates, SC-DMAP Regional Economic Analysis, May 2024). Our experience spans harbour works, quayside construction, marine logistics, and vessel operations safety management.

  • Marine operations safety planning
  • Port and harbour safety management
  • Vessel operations oversight
  • Nearshore construction risk assessment
